Personally I like the old mario games because of how simple they are. Anyone can pick it up and, after dying a few times, figure out how to play it. The new ones are fun, but the gimmicks make them confusing to anyone who has never played a video game before.

Mario 64 and Galaxy were pretty awesome. They really did a good job transitioning from 2d to 3d platforming

Super Mario Sunshine is my favourite game of all time, so yea. i do like my platformers though. galaxy wasn't nearly as good as Sunshine and 64. i've yet to get 3D Land, but i inevitably will
